Christmas-AD 2009 AD
Andrew thank you!
What a great Christmas letter. I must share this.
I could start with a letter on a gloomy note and relate to the recent horrors of international, national, and local news….but i won’t and I could start by saying that the Christmas story, which leads to the Easter story, gives us hope even though it does.
I do, however want to start on the reason why everyone should take up the serious business of repentance, and not just because it’s a biblical reason. Most pople, Christian and non-Christian, are on a guilt-trip, fed by the devil, the devil gets us into the habit of striving to be better. I know many kind people, and God is not against kindness.
But what God requires of us is to acknowledge before Him in prayer and give witness to the people in his world that His son died, once we realize that Jesus Christ died (and that we can believe), we can then start with the next stage of the Christian journey, that points to ressurection.
We know the early Church got started; and bizarre ir may sound, it was because Christ conquered sin and death and came back to0 life. He is risen.
* He died for you and He died for me
* He rose again for us to set us free
* God never makes us feel guilty
* he’ll whisper “my child let me help”
God doesn’t want us in Church by Sunday when our hearts are in hell “If the son sets you free, you’ll be free indeed”. Being a Christian is not a leap into the dark or unknown; it’s adjusting our lifestyles to the historical fact that Christ died for you and me.
And finally, the most quoted verse in the Bible the gospel of John puts it; “For God so loved that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life ( John 3:16).
